John Apostolakis is leading Work Package 1. He is a Senior Applied Physicist at CERN where he works for the Software Development for Experiments group in the Experimental Physics Department. In addition to EVERSE he is also an active member of the Geant4 Collaboration.
John has contributed to core parts of Geant4, including the geometry modelling and propagation in electromagnetic fields. He has also taken part in R&D for the parallelisation of Geant4, spanning the creation of Geant4 MT (multi-threaded) and its introduction into production, the GeantV prototype for Vector CPU and the ongoing AdePT GPU prototype for electron and photon showers in High Energy Physics detectors.
He also organises the Geant4 courses for beginners and advanced users at CERN, and takes part in outreach activies on simulation and computing in High Energy Physics in Greece and for visiting high school teachers and pupils at CERN.
