The University of Salento is a medium size university located in Lecce (Southern Italy) with approx 20000 students and 1200 units of personnel involved in the didactics and research activities. The University has a very active research area of interest on the biodiversity and environmental sciences, being member of the National Biodiversity Future Centre. With this, the University contributes to different European Research Infrastructures including Lifewatch ERIC, hosting the Infrastructure Service Centre, ACTRIS ERIC and eLTER RI, hosting a RI site for the long term ecological research, and offering advanced laboratory facilities for the biodiversity and ecosystem research.
