A repository to describe the Research Software metadata, for the tools described within the EVERSE project. This metadata schema relies heavily on CodeMeta and Schema.org), extending them when needed to acommodate the project needs. The requirements for this vocabulary come from the D3.1 (Technology Watch) and the RSQKit collection of tools.

applicationCategory¶
The type of applications categories recognized are:
- AnalysisCode: Software tier type used to categorize scripts and tools designed to support a research publication or investigation, with a low level of maturity
- PrototypeTool: Software tier type used to categorize tools designed to support a research publication or investigation that have reached a level of maturity and reuse among the community
- ResearchInfrastructureSoftware: Software tier type used to categorize mature tools that are used by one or several Research Infrastructures and/or science communities
Each of the categories have an identifier: https://w3id.org/everse/rs#{id} where the id is one of the keys used in the list above (e.g., https://w3id.org/everse/rs#PrototypeTool)
hasQualityDimension¶
The dimensions recognized are described in https://w3id.org/everse/i/dimensions/
Each of the dimensions has an identifier: https://w3id.org/everse/rs#{id} where the id is one of the keys used in the list above (e.g., https://w3id.org/everse/rs#FAIRness)
Quality indicators¶
The recognized indicators are described in https://w3id.org/everse/i/indicators/
Use the following properties to relate a tool to specific software quality indicators (URIs from the indicators registry):
rs:measuresQualityIndicator: Declare the indicators that the tool evaluates, assesses, or reports on. Use when the tool can check, validate, or output a metric for an indicator. Value: one or morersqi:SoftwareQualityIndicatorURIs under https://w3id.org/everse/i/indicators/.rs:improvesQualityIndicator: Declare the indicators that the tool directly helps improve when used (e.g., linters improving code quality, CI improving reproducibility). Value: one or morersqi:SoftwareQualityIndicatorURIs under https://w3id.org/everse/i/indicators/.
Notes
- The same indicator can be provided in both properties if the tool both measures and improves it. - Use stable indicator URIs from the EVERSE registry. - Multiple indicators can be listed for each property.howToUse¶
The values for this property indicate how a software application can be used (can be a list if several are applicable).
The recognized values are:
- online-service: The software is available as an online service, e.g., via a web interface or API
- CI/CD: The software is available as part of a continuous integration and/or continuous deployment pipeline
- command-line: The software is available as a command line interface, e.g., via a command line tool or script
- library: The software is available as a library to be included in other software applications
usedBy¶
The clusters are described in https://everse.software/RSQKit/research_clusters_and_infrastructures. If the community is not part of these clusters, it can be added as free text.
